How can we improve the insulation performance of refrigerated containers? It should be noted that in addition to excellent refrigeration units, it is also necessary to enhance the overall insulation performance of the container. At present, polyurethane foam, polystyrene foam and extruded polystyrene foam are three commonly used thermal insulation materials in China.

1、 Polyurethane insulation material

Polyurethane foam material is a widely used excellent thermal insulation material. This material is popular among well-known refrigerated truck companies in China due to its low thermal conductivity, good insulation performance, and high strength.

The density and bubble diameter of excellent polyurethane foam are very small. Moreover, polyurethane materials are also suitable for various board making processes, such as injection molding, bonding, spraying, etc.

2、 Polystyrene insulation material

Polystyrene foam is a thermal insulation material made of polystyrene resin. The foam is loose, has good heat insulation performance, small water absorption, good low temperature resistance, and is easy to cut. However, the adhesive process can only be used to make the heat insulation layer of refrigerated vehicles.

In developed countries such as abroad, this material is basically abandoned. Some small factories in China still use this material in order to save costs. Compared with polyurethane materials, polystyrene needs to achieve the same insulation effect by increasing the thickness of the insulation material by at least 20%. The increase in thickness brings about an increase in the curb weight of refrigerated trucks, a decrease in load capacity, and an increase in energy consumption.

3、 Extruded polystyrene foam is a thermal insulation material extruded by polystyrene resin and corresponding additives. This insulation material is similar to a honeycomb structure, with uniform thickness and no occurrence of voids or fracture voids. Extruded polystyrene materials have the advantages of high compressive strength, low thermal conductivity and water absorption, and long service life.

4、 Performance Comparison of Thermal Insulation Materials

In addition, a new insulation material - vacuum insulation board - has been developed recently, which has better insulation effect and more energy-saving installation process. At present, the production technology of this material is quite mature abroad.
